(August 1, 2024) <\/strong>&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newbethany.org\/\">New Bethany<\/a> will hold its 33rd annual Souper Day on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsquest.org\/\">ArtsQuest<\/a>. Proceeds from the event will support New Bethany\u2019s efforts to serve those affected by housing, food insecurity, and poverty in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so thrilled to bring Souper Day back for the 33rd year,\u201d said New Bethany\u2019s Executive Director, Marc Rittle. \u201cThis is an annual gathering of hope and support. We believe attendees will gain a unique perspective on how a community comes together to address poverty, hunger, and homelessness.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event connects New Bethany with community leaders, donors, partners and neighbors, allowing organizations and individuals to deepen their understanding of the issues facing our community and the solutions New Bethany hopes to build. Kelly A. Chando, CFRE, director of development at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/\">St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network,<\/a> will serve as the event\u2019s emcee.<\/p>\n<p>Event attendees will hear from New Bethany\u2019s clients and staff about the organization\u2019s progress this past year and its future goals, setting the standard for the year ahead.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event will feature a community conversation with New Bethany board members:<\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Dr. Jack Silva, superintendent of schools at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basdschools.org\/\">Bethlehem Area School District<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Michelle Kott, chief of police at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bethlehem-pa.gov\/Police\">Bethlehem Police Department<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Rachel Leon, member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bethlehem-pa.gov\/Meet-Your-Government\/City-Council\">Bethlehem City Council<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Hector Gonzales, employee of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justborn.com\/\">Just Born Quality Confections<\/a>, and former resident of New Bethany<\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Katarah Jordan, CEO of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcallentown.org\/\">Boys and Girls Club of Allentown<\/a>, will serve as the panel\u2019s moderator.<\/p>\n<p>This panel of experts will discuss cross-sector solutions to housing insecurity, food stability, and economic justice, offering a lesson on how local partnerships lead to community solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Early sponsors include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stnorthern.bank\/\">First Northern Bank &amp; Trust<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airproducts.com\/\">Air Products<\/a>, Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Olympus, B Braun, and St. Luke&#8217;s University Health Network.
