Robert Freeman said the city of Easton today was awarded more than $83,000 from PennDOT for a road improvement project.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman said the city will receive an $83,353 grant for intersection upgrades at Pearl and Bushkill streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always a benefit for drivers and pedestrians when roads are made safer, and Easton was lucky to earn these state dollars from the very competitive Multimodal Transportation Fund,\u201d said Freeman, D-Northampton. \u201cI would like to thank the governor and PennDOT for approving this grant for Easton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The grant was one of 66 projects funded in 32 counties across Pennsylvania totaling $51 million.<\/p>\n<p>The program is intended to provide financial assistance to municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and ports and rail freight entities to improve transportation assets that enhance communities, pedestrian safety, and transit revitalization.<\/p>\n<p>House Democrats are committed to promoting better jobs, better schools and better communities.
