Recognizing the critical need for a community of support, Jessica Hill, founder of The Parent Collective (TPC), is expanding their prenatal class series across communities in the U.S. to help expectant parents form lasting connections and gain valuable education before and after their baby arrives.

Drawing from personal experience, which Hill shares in her newly published article “I Had My Baby Abroad, and This is What the U.S. is Getting Wrong” published in Mother.ly, her journey underscores the profound impact that a built-in support system can have on new parents’ mental health, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.

In the U.K., Hill found that community and connection were baked into the prenatal process through local prenatal education groups. In stark contrast, the U.S. often leaves new parents feeling isolated and overwhelmed, lacking essential networks of support. This inspired Hill to launch The Parent Collective, offering prenatal classes that not only educate parents but also foster meaningful friendships.

Bringing Community to Expectant Parents Across the U.S.
Launching nationwide, The Parent Collective is now offering in-person and virtual prenatal class series designed to bring together expectant parents based on their local communities and due dates. “Our classes are more than just a source of information,” Hill explains. “They’re an opportunity to connect with other parents who are going through the same challenges. These connections last well beyond the birth, supporting families during the early years of parenthood.”

The Parent Collective ensures that parents are equipped with evidence-based education delivered by nurses and midwives on childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care and postpartum transition, all while also building an invaluable sense of community that helps combat the isolation often felt by new mothers. The program’s unique structure sorts participants by geographic region and due date, ensuring that parents create lasting local connections that can be relied upon in those first critical months.

Why This Support Network Matters More Than Ever
“Becoming a mother changes everything,” Hill says. “But having a network of other moms who understand the emotional, mental, and physical challenges you’re facing can truly be a lifesaver.” The friendships forged in these early stages often become a source of support for years to come, helping moms navigate everything from sleepless nights to balancing work and family life.

Additionally, Hill’s experience living abroad, as detailed in “I Had My Baby Abroad,” highlights the stark differences in how countries like the U.K. and the U.S. support new families, especially in areas like parental leave and prenatal education. She advocates for the U.S. to adopt more community-driven approaches, providing new parents with more comprehensive resources and support systems.

With The Parent Collective’s growing presence, parents across the U.S. now have an opportunity to access the same type of life-changing connections Hill experienced abroad.

Join The Parent Collective’s Classes in Lehigh Valley
The Parent Collective is committed to bringing this unique blend of education and community to expectant parents in Pennsylvania.
