The annual event, which features two walks and a pet costume contest, supports the preservation and programming of three centuries of community history.<\/em><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (October 22, 2024) – <\/strong>Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites\u2019 (HBMS<\/a>) annual Historic Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Walk<\/a>, presented by Physical Therapy at St. Luke\u2019s<\/a>, gets underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the 1869 Luckenbach Mill.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to celebrate our annual Historic Turkey Trot, especially in light of Moravian Church Settlements\u2014Bethlehem’s recent World Heritage designation,\u201d said LoriAnn Wukitsch, executive director of HBMS. \u201cAs we gather at the Luckenbach Mill in the city\u2019s Colonial Industrial Quarter, which is part of the World Heritage inscription site, for the Turkey Trot, we invite the community to join us in celebrating both health and heritage. Every step taken in this race supports our mission to protect and promote Bethlehem’s history, ensuring that future generations can enjoy and learn from our unique cultural treasures.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fan-favorite 5K course challenges runners and competitive walkers, while a 1.7-mile fun walk and Pet Costume Contest round out this exciting day. All profits from this event support the preservation and programming of three centuries of history in the community.<\/p>\n

Registration is $40 and is open until the day of the race. Everyone who registers will receive:<\/p>\n

\u2012 A Turkey Trot T-shirt.
\n\u2012 Free healthy race day refreshments.
\n\u2012 Free admission to Trees of Historic Bethlehem<\/a> and HBMS\u2019s museums<\/a> all weekend (with your race shirt or bib).
\n\u2012 A 10% discount at the Schropp Dry Goods Shoppe<\/a> for unique holiday gift shopping all weekend (with your race shirt or bib).<\/p>\n

There are three categories of participants:<\/p>\n

\u2012 Adult Runners:<\/span> Overall, male and female winners will receive a Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites Family Membership. Prizes to 1st and 2nd place winners (male and female) in age groups: 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.<\/p>\n

\u2012 Adult Competitive Walkers<\/span>: Overall, male and female winners will receive a Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites Family Membership.<\/p>\n

\u2012 Youth Runners<\/span>: Prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in age groups: 5 to 8, 9 to 11, and 12 to 15.<\/p>\n

Creatively dressed pets take the stage at 8:15 a.m. for the pet costume contest, featuring Turkey Trot-themed attire. The costume contest is free, but owners must be registered Turkey Trot participants. Costumes are judged on creativity, Turkey Trot theme, and best pet\/handler team.<\/p>\n
