(December 18, 2024) <\/strong>\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.historicbethlehem.org\/\">Historic Bethlehem Museums &amp; Sites (HBMS)<\/a> announced that Mark Demko has joined the organization as its new Development &amp; Communications Coordinator. A lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley, Demko brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit communications, community relations, marketing and development to the nonprofit that is responsible for caring for 20 historic properties and sites over 20 acres within the Historic Moravian Bethlehem National Historic Landmark District in the city.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_138531\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-138531\" style=\"width: 227px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-138531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mark-Demko-photo-by-Olaf-Starorypinski-1-227x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"227\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mark-Demko-photo-by-Olaf-Starorypinski-1-227x300.jpg 227w, https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mark-Demko-photo-by-Olaf-Starorypinski-1-300x397.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mark-Demko-photo-by-Olaf-Starorypinski-1.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 227px) 100vw, 227px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-138531\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark Demko (photo by Olaf Starorypinski)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWith Moravian Church Settlements\u2014Bethlehem recently inscribed on the World Heritage Sites list, Mark is joining our team at an especially exciting time for Historic Bethlehem Museums &amp; Sites,\u201d said HBMS Vice President and Managing Director Lindsey Jancay. \u201cFrom our Christmas programs to our World Heritage Tours, we are focused on presenting world-class experiences for our visitors. We know Mark\u2019s storytelling expertise and experience with nonprofit communications will help us connect more deeply with the community and our stakeholders while bringing our mission and programs to life in new and meaningful ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his new role, Demko will coordinate all of HBMS\u2019 marketing and promotional efforts, media relations and communications with the organization\u2019s various stakeholders, including members, donors and community organizations. Among his primary areas of responsibility will be strategic communications and outreach supporting the organization\u2019s programming, annual fund, membership acquisition and retention, and donations and gifts, with a focus on delivering timely communications that align with HBMS\u2019 mission and engage stakeholders through their tone and content.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited for the opportunity to bring my years of experience in nonprofit communications to Historic Bethlehem Museums &amp; Sites,\u201d Demko said. \u201cThis is a dynamic, growing organization that is tasked with preserving and promoting Bethlehem\u2019s rich history, supporting tourism in the city and highlighting the impact the Moravians have had both locally and globally. I\u2019m thrilled to be working with HBMS\u2019 members, donors and volunteers to amplify Bethlehem\u2019s incredible history while fostering stronger relationships with the community and the nonprofit\u2019s many supporters. Everyone has made me feel so welcome since I started, and that\u2019s a testament to the incredible culture within the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Moravian College, now Moravian University, where he earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in English\/Journalism, Demko worked from 1999 to 2020 at ArtsQuest, the nonprofit that presents Musikfest, Christkindlmarkt Bethlehem and the programs and activities at SteelStacks and the Banana Factory arts &amp; cultural center. As the organization\u2019s Senior Director of Communications, he was responsible for public relations and communications initiatives and strategies, playing a pivotal role in the organization\u2019s growth following the transformation of the old Bethlehem Steel mill into the SteelStacks arts and cultural campus in 2010. Prior to joining HBMS, he served as an editor for Outdoor Sportsman Group, owner of the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel, from 2020 to 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Demko resides in the Lehigh Valley with his wife, Allison, and their daughter, Aine.<\/p>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<p><strong>ABOUT HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS &amp; SITES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Historic Bethlehem Museums &amp; Sites (HBMS) is a nonprofit institution that brings to life three centuries of American history.
