(March 11, 2025) &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciseasternpa.org\/\">Communities In Schools of Eastern Pennsylvania (CIS of<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciseasternpa.org\/\">Eastern PA)<\/a> announced the formation of its Monroe Advisory Board, which has been assembled to support the organization\u2019s operations in Monroe County following recent growth in its service areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to unite a passionate group of local leaders and advocates to strengthen our support for students and families across Monroe County,\u201d said Sarah Wallace, director of the Pocono Chamber of Commerce and advisory board member. \u201cThe knowledge and experience everyone brings to the table is invaluable, and we are confident that our collective efforts will create a lasting and positive impact on the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CIS of Eastern PA expanded its student support services to four schools in Monroe County\u2019s Pocono Mountain School District in the 2024-25 school year, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/Domain\/15\">Clear Run Elementary<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/Domain\/15\">Center<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/Domain\/16\">Clear Run Intermediate School<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/wjhs\">Pocono Mountain West Junior High School<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/Domain\/12\">Pocono<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/Domain\/12\">Mountain West High School<\/a>. This growth underscores the organization\u2019s commitment to providing vital resources and support to students in need.<\/p>\n<p>The Monroe Advisory Board is composed of a cross-section of business, community and nonprofit leaders who are interested in issues that impact youth and education in Monroe County. The board\u2019s goal is to expand awareness of CIS of Eastern PA in three ways: make recommendations for meeting the needs of Monroe students consistent with the CIS mission and monitor program performance; act as an informed ambassador for the organization; and develop and engage in fundraising, communication and marketing activities in collaboration with CIS for its programs in Monroe County.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Wallace, the following individuals currently comprise the Monroe Advisory Board:<\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Kim Diddio, attorney, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diddiolaw.com\/\">Diddio Law<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Jon Fenner, teacher\/former CIS leader, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sburg.org\/\">Stroudsburg Area School District<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Sarah Jacobi, vice president of impact, <a href=\"https:\/\/poconounitedway.org\/\">Pocono Mountains United Way<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Bob Kelly, realtor, <a href=\"https:\/\/kellyrealtygroup.com\/\">Kelly Real Estate Group<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Sharon Laverdure, commissioner, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monroecountypa.gov\/departments\/commissioners\/contact-us\/contacts\/sharon\">Monroe County<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Ken Long, president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esu.edu\/\">East Stroudsburg University<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Elizabeth Robison, superintendent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmsd.org\/\">Pocono Mountain School District<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Jessica Teel Sadler, manager, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jeffersonhealthplans.com\/\">Jefferson Health Plans<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Paul Schmid, consultant, retired food service director, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esasd.net\/\">East Stroudsburg Area School<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esasd.net\/\">District<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Edward Schaeffer, district director, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scouting.org\/\">Scouting America<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Victoria Strunk, attorney, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grossmcginley.com\/\">Gross McGinley<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Phillip St. James, community relation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanofi.com\/en\">Sanofi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2012 Dr. Rachael Weidlich, director of enrollment, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northampton.edu\/admissions\/campus-locations\/pocono-campus.html\">Northampton Community College<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northampton.edu\/admissions\/campus-locations\/pocono-campus.html\">Tannersville<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Monroe Advisory Board is made up of dedicated local leaders and advocates who are passionate about student success and are dedicated to extending the impact of CIS services,&#8221; said Timothy Mulligan, President and CEO of CIS of Eastern PA. &#8220;With each member\u2019s valuable experience, insight and guidance, we are poised to raise awareness of CIS of Eastern PA&#8217;s mission to ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the organization\u2019s second advisory board supporting a specific county in its service area.
