Gwen Cooper will help the store kick off its \u201cWords and Whiskers\u201d book club<\/strong><\/p>\n

People who love both books and cats will have a rare chance to meet a NY Times bestselling author of cat-themed literature next month in Emmaus.<\/p>\n

Purr Haus, the Lehigh Valley\u2019s only cat-themed boutique and adoption center, will welcome Gwen Cooper, author of \u201cHomer’s Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life with a Blind Wonder Cat,\u201d and many other titles during a celebration to kick off its \u201cWords and Whiskers\u201d book club.<\/p>\n

Gwen will sign and sell her books at the store at 27 S. 7th Street on Saturday, April 5, 1pm til 2pm. Purr Haus has chosen her newest novel, \u201cLove Saves the Day\u201d as its first book club selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur mission at Purr Haus is to support cat rescues and harness the power of the local cat community, which is very strong in the Lehigh Valley,\u201d said Purr Haus owner Laurie Mason Schroeder.<\/p>\n

\u201cGwen is not only a talented writer, she is a passionate advocate for cat rescues, so she was the perfect choice for our new book club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adoptable cats from Feline Urban Rescue and Rehabilitation (FURR) will be on hand during the event for pets and play, and the rescue will hold a basket raffle.<\/p>\n

Located at 27 S. 7th St., Emmaus, Purr Haus was established in 2021 by retired journalist Laurie Mason Schroeder. The gift shop sells \u201cThe Best Stuff for Cats and the People Who Love Them,\u201d including imported German catnip toys, bed, treats and harnesses. Purr Haus partners with 12 local cat rescues who visit the store every weekend for adoption events and Laurie fosters hard-to-adopt cats at the store\u2019s \u201cHotel Purr Haus\u201d program.<\/p>\n
