EASTON, PA (March 31, 2025)<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Children\u2019s book author Kay Haring will be\u00a0reading her acclaimed picture book,\u00a0Keith Haring: The Boy Who Just Kept Drawing<\/em>\u00a0at the Sigal Museum on Saturday, April 12, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., as part of the Second Saturday Art Lab series. She will do a Q&A afterwards about the life and art of her brother Keith Haring, iconic Pop artist and Kutztown native son, with books available for purchase and signing. There will also be a hands-on art activity to accompany the reading and to get everyone’s creative inspiration flowing.<\/p>\n

Education Program Coordinator Beth Krumholz shares:<\/p>\n

“We are delighted to present this family-friendly event in conjunction with our exhibition that explores the extraordinary life of Tim Hare, Easton architect, artist, and LGBTQ+ activist. Tim was a driving force in historic preservation and community revitalization in Easton after urban renewal. He saw Easton ‘the way it could be,’ just as Keith Haring believed that ‘children know something that most people have forgotten’.”<\/p>\n

Come spend an afternoon basking in the creativity and inspiration of these two visionaries. All ages are welcome.\u00a0Free admission.<\/p>\n

ABOUT THE ARTIST & AUTHOR<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keith Haring was an American artist who emerged on the Pop Art scene in\u00a0the subculture of New York City in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

Kay Haring is the younger sister of artist Keith Haring. She is a wife, mother,\u00a0writer, hiker, lover of art and the wonders of nature. Kay has spent many\u00a0years both working and volunteering for nonprofits, in management and\u00a0fundraising capacities. She has held board positions for a wide variety\u00a0of nonprofits, many related to the arts. She is interested in sharing\u00a0nonfiction stories with children that are inspirational and thought\u00a0provoking. Kay spends time in southern California, Hawaii, and Utah but\u00a0her heart resides in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
