April 15, 2025 \u2013 As part of Earth Month 2025, the City of Allentown is seeking community input to help build a healthier, more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future. A citywide Sustainability Survey is now open to residents, workers, and students in Allentown to gather input that will inform the development of the city\u2019s first- ever Climate Action Plan.<\/p>\n

This brief, anonymous survey\u2014estimated to take less than 10 minutes\u2014will assess the community\u2019s knowledge of and interest in sustainable practices. The results will play a key role in guiding future environmental initiatives and setting long-term climate goals that reflect the needs and priorities of Allentown.<\/p>\n

\u201cAllentown has to be ready for a changing climate world, so we\u2019re developing a climate action plan that will help us understand the vulnerability of our neighborhoods and what we can do to keep residents safe,\u201d said Mayor Matt Tuerk. \u201cResidents\u2019 voices will help us work together to reduce our environmental impact, adapt to extreme weather, and fight for the resources that our communities need to stay strong and healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Sustainability is about meeting the needs of the current generation and preserving the ability of future generations to meet their own needs,\u201d said Kyle Ropski, Chair of the Allentown Environmental Advisory Council. \u201cIn the face of catastrophic climate collapse, it is critical that the City of Allentown develops a citywide Climate Action Plan that supports our community\u2019s resilience with the future in mind. It\u2019s even more important that this plan is built on the input and engagement of those most directly impacted.\u201d<\/p>\n

The City encourages all stakeholders to share their thoughts and help guide the city toward a more sustainable and climate-conscious future. The survey is available at: https:\/\/bit.ly\/AllentownClimatePlan<\/a><\/p>\n

This initiative is one of several ways the City of Allentown is honoring Earth Month and empowering residents to engage in environmental action this year. Additional efforts include the Love Your Block <\/em>and Youth Climate Action Fund <\/em>programs, community cleanups through Keep Allentown Beautiful<\/em>, and the City\u2019s upcoming Earth Day in the Park celebration on Saturday, April 26.<\/p>\n
