{"id":142875,"date":"2025-06-03T05:49:50","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T09:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=142875"},"modified":"2025-06-03T05:49:50","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T09:49:50","slug":"21st-annual-justin-sheftel-memorial-softball-tournament-set-for-next-saturday-june-14-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=142875","title":{"rendered":"21st Annual Justin Sheftel Memorial Softball Tournament Set for Next Saturday, June 14, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>21st Annual Justin Sheftel Memorial Softball Tournament Set for Next Saturday, June 14, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Allentown, PA \u2014 June 2, 2025 <\/strong>\u2014 The Justin Sheftel Memorial Fund is proud to announce the <strong>21st Annual Justin Sheftel Memorial Softball Tournament<\/strong>, taking place on <strong>Saturday, June 14, 2025<\/strong>, in Allentown, PA at Cedar Creek Parkway West.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, this beloved community event brings together friends, families, and athletes to honor the life of Justin Sheftel, a local student-athlete whose spirit continues to inspire.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament raises critical funds for scholarships and youth-focused nonpro\ufb01t programs across the Lehigh Valley.<\/p>\n<h1>Event Highlights Include:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Softball tournament games featuring sixteen local teams<\/li>\n<li>Family-friendly activities including food trucks, games, and entertainment<\/li>\n<li>A vibrant Silent Auction featuring gift cards, sports memorabilia, and more<\/li>\n<li>Special ceremonies honoring Justin\u2019s memory and tournament milestones \u201cWe are grateful and excited celebrate 21 years of community, competition, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>compassion,\u201d said Linda Sheftel, Board Chair. \u201cThis tournament is about honoring Justin\u2019s legacy while making a real difference for young people in our region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justin Sheftel was killed in 2005, shortly after graduating from Parkland High School. He was in Ocean City, MD celebrating senior week when he was struck by a car. It was con\ufb01rmed the driver was speeding and DUI at the time of the accident. The Justin Sheftel Memorial Fund was established in memory of Justin Sheftel, a beloved student-athlete who valued sportsmanship, friendship, and giving back. The Fund provides scholarships to students who exemplify these qualities.<\/p>\n<p>Red Robin is returning with their creative and talented Mixologists in a friendly Mocktails competition. Mike Raymond from Fox Sports Radio will broadcast live from the tournament while St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network and St. Luke\u2019s Sports Medicine will be returning as our Presenting Sponsor along with Phillies Hall of Fame pitcher and St. Luke&#8217;s Community Ambassador Steve Carlton. They will hold the All-Star Baseball Clinic. This year\u2019s softball clinic features Devyn Demchak, a Northampton graduate and Drexel University softball player. Both Blake and Devyn are St. Luke\u2019s Rising Stars (NIL student\/athletes).<\/p>\n<p>This annual community event is open to the public, and admission is free.
