Danny\u2019s Ride Reaches 50K Rides Milestone, Transforming Recovery Journeys with Essential Transportation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reliable access to transportation is a major roadblock on many people\u2019s road to recovery.<\/em><\/p>\n

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (June 4, 2025)\u2014<\/strong>Danny\u2019s Ride<\/a>, a nonprofit that provides transportation services to those recovering from substance use disorder (SUD), announced it has provided 50,000 rides since the organization\u2019s inception. The milestone highlights the crucial role of transportation services in removing barriers to recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cReaching our 50,000 ride milestone is a testament to the importance of Danny\u2019s Ride in the recovery community,\u201d said Nancy Knoebel, president and founder of Danny\u2019s Ride. \u201cEvery ride we provide offers someone a chance to move forward in their journey, whether it\u2019s attending a treatment session, job interview, or medical appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Danny\u2019s Ride\u2019s goal is to ensure everyone has access to the support and resources they need to achieve long-term recovery without transportation being a barrier. Using Uber and Lyft, Danny\u2019s Ride has provided rides to over 5,300 individuals to date, driving over 470,000 miles. About half of those rides were to outpatient treatment, and the rest covered medical appointments, job interviews and other elements of a successful recovery.<\/p>\n

This marks a significant increase in the use of Danny\u2019s Ride\u2019s services compared to previous years; in 2020-2021, Danny\u2019s Ride provided 100 rides to 31 riders. So far in the current<\/p>\n

2024-2025 year, the organization has provided over 21,000 rides for more than 2,500 riders, covering a distance of more than 176,000 miles.<\/p>\n

With these numbers, Danny\u2019s Ride continues to expand its reach and support for individuals in recovery, ensuring that transportation is no longer a barrier to critical services.<\/p>\n

“Transportation is often a major challenge for people in recovery, and we\u2019re proud to remove that barrier for thousands of individuals,” said Knoebel.<\/p>\n

Danny\u2019s Ride serves individuals across Pennsylvania, North Carolina and New Jersey. The nonprofit is committed to continuing its work and expanding its services to help even more people in recovery access essential services.<\/p>\n

Founded in November 2020, Danny\u2019s Ride addresses the significant barrier of transportation in substance use disorder recovery. This nonprofit is inspired by the compassionate spirit of Danny Teichman, who passed away in 2016. Utilizing the widespread availability of Lyft and Uber, the organization uses the necessary infrastructure and funding to provide essential rides to those in need. With the support of donors, partners, recovery staff, and the community, Danny\u2019s Ride successfully fulfills its mission to ensure everyone who needs a ride to recovery services has access to one.
