{"id":143176,"date":"2025-06-15T08:25:47","date_gmt":"2025-06-15T12:25:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=143176"},"modified":"2025-06-15T08:25:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T12:25:47","slug":"st-lukes-offering-summer-meals-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=143176","title":{"rendered":"St. Luke\u2019s Offering Summer Meals Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>St. Luke\u2019s Offering Summer Meals Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the seventh consecutive year, the St. Luke\u2019s Summer Meals Program will be providing free lunches in Allentown and Quakertown to ensure every child in need has access to nutritious meals during the summer months.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/community-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Community Health Department<\/a>\u00a0launched the Summer Meals program in response to the Network\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/community-health\/community-health-needs-assessment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community Health Needs Assessment<\/a>\u00a0(CHNA), which showed that more than half of students in the Allentown and Quakertown Community School Districts are eligible for free and reduced meals during the academic year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At St. Luke\u2019s University Health Network, we believe that no child should suffer the consequences of hunger,\u201d says Bill Moyer, St. Luke\u2019s West Region President. \u201cEnsuring that every child has the nourishment they need to grow strong and stay healthy is fundamental to our commitment to community health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In Allentown, free grab-and-go meals can be picked up at Star Community Health\u2019s Sigal Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning at 11:30 am from June 17 \u2013 August 21, 2025. The Summer Meals Program in Allentown is supported by Hatzel &amp; Buehler, Inc., formerly known as West Side Hammer Electric, which has been committed to making an impact in the communities it serves since the program\u2019s inception.<\/p>\n<p>In Quakertown, meals will be served Monday \u2013 Friday, 12 \u2013 2 pm (except July 4<sup>th<\/sup>) at Free Fall Action Park (670 S. Main Street, Quakertown) from June 9 \u2013 August 22, 2025. This location will also be providing children with a bag full of non-perishable food each Friday to take home to their families. Students and families will also be connected to the Quakertown Farmers Market for fresh, local produce.
