{"id":143396,"date":"2025-06-26T14:19:30","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T18:19:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=143396"},"modified":"2025-06-26T14:19:30","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T18:19:30","slug":"st-lukes-named-among-most-socially-responsible-in-nation-best-in-pennsylvania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=143396","title":{"rendered":"St. Luke\u2019s Named among Most Socially Responsible in Nation, Best in Pennsylvania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>St. Luke\u2019s Named among Most Socially Responsible in Nation, Best in Pennsylvania<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">St. Luke\u2019 University Health Network has once again been recognized by the Lown Institute for outstanding social responsibility, receiving an \u2018A\u2019 grade on the 2025-26 Lown Institute Hospitals Index.<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">St. Luke\u2019s is 5th in the nation out of 322 health systems for social responsibility, according to Lown, an independent health care think tank based in Massachusetts.<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis report\u2019s findings reflect St. Luke\u2019s dedication to expand access to our Network\u2019s world-class, outcomes-driven quality care,\u201d said St. Luke\u2019s Vice President of Community Health Rajika Reed, PhD., MPH, MEd. \u201cAs the Lehigh Valley\u2019s only locally based, independent health care network, proudly caring for those in need for over 150 years, we are fully committed to and invested in advancing the wellbeing of our communities.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">Out of more than 2,700 hospitals measured by Lown, only 5% achieved honor roll status, with St. Luke\u2019s ranking among this select group of high performers.<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">St. Luke\u2019s Hospital \u2013 Upper Bucks Campus (Quakertown) is ranked No. 1 out of 114 acute care\/critical access hospitals in Pennsylvania and No. 14 nationally out of 2,717 hospitals on thesocial&nbsp;responsibility metric.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">St. Luke\u2019s University Hospital \u2013 Bethlehem (which includes the Allentown and Sacred Heart campuses) is ranked No. 1 in the state for patient safety, and No. 8 overall in the nation.<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">A total of 11 individual St. Luke\u2019s hospitals earned Honor Roll status this year, with \u2018A\u2019 grades across all of the top four categories, Social Responsibility, Equity, Value of Care, and Patient Outcomes.<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Honor Roll hospitals include:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>St. Luke\u2019s University Hospital (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-university-hospital-bethlehem-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bethlehem<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-allentown-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allentown<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-sacred-heart-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sacred Heart<\/a>\u00a0campuses)<\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-anderson-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Anderson Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-carbon-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Carbon Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-easton-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Easton Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-miners-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Miners Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-monroe-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Monroe Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-upper-bucks-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Upper Bucks Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/stlukes-hospital-warren-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Luke\u2019s Warren Campus<\/a><\/li>\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slhn.org\/locations\/geisinger-stlukes-hospital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Geisinger St. Luke\u2019s Hospital<\/a><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;&#8220;Hospitals are facing unprecedented political and financial challenges,&#8221; said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. &#8220;In this uncertain environment, it&#8217;s more important than ever to support the socially responsible hospitals who are delivering high-quality care to all in their community.&#8221;<\/p><p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only ranking to&nbsp;combinemetrics of health equity and value of care alongside patient outcomes&nbsp;for more than 2,700 acute care and 800 critical access hospitals nationwide, offering a&nbsp;holistic view of hospitals as total community partners. In the&nbsp;sixth&nbsp;annual rankings, the 2025-26&nbsp;Lown Index evaluates hospitals on over 50 measures&nbsp;including novel metrics such as community benefit, racial inclusivity and avoidance of overuse.
