Mike Schlossberg released the following statement after the House passed a General Appropriations bill for the 2025-26 state budget:

“I am proud of the progress we continue to make in moving further than ever before as we secure fair funding for Parkland and Allentown schools, invest in critically needed mental health care, reduce costs for Pennsylvanians, and fight to get stuff done in Pennsylvania,” said Schlossberg.

“While this is not a finished product, it takes us one step further in the budget conversation, and I hope that our passage of a budget will continue to remind our friends in the Senate of where our priorities lie – and of our ability to compromise.”

This budget matched the governor’s number in critical education, mental health and job creation programs. Schlossberg noted that other bills passed by the House – including mass transit and tax cut bills – would effectuate the complete budget. Those bills are now waiting action in the state Senate.

“We continue our historic work to address funding for our local school district so they can make investments in the future of our students,” said Schlossberg. “The progress our schools make for students will only continue to strengthen our region as a great place to call home, work and do business.”

The budget also contains other elements important to Schlossberg. It continues to invest in Schlossberg’s BOOST for after-school programs, and his “Grow Your Own Educator” program to recruit and retain teachers within the communities they will teach and serve.

“With the turmoil in Washington, DC and the uncertainty of what Trump and Congressional Republican budget cuts would mean for Pennsylvania, the work of approving a budget in divided government took a great deal of work,” noted Schlossberg. “It’s impossible to create a perfect budget, but we have a responsibility to get stuff done by finding a final deal that benefits the people we represent. Now, we await action by the Senate to take their next steps in getting us to a completed budget that adequately reflects the needs of the people of Pennsylvania.”

Information provided to TVL by:
Amy Giancoli Hartman

HARRISBURG, July 14 – State Rep.
