Treasurer Stacy Garrity Encourages Farmers and First Responders to File Electronically for Liquid Fuels Tax Reimbursements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applications must be filed by September 30, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n

Harrisburg, PA\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity today urged farmers and first responders, including volunteer fire companies, ambulance providers and rescue squads incorporated as nonprofits, to submit their applications for Liquid Fuels Tax reimbursements electronically.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my goal to process and send Liquid Fuels Tax reimbursements as quickly as possible,\u201d Treasurer Garrity said. \u201cReceiving applications electronically helps streamline the process for everyone, meaning faster approvals and faster payments to the organizations that count on these reimbursements to maintain operations \u2013 like our farmers who put food on our tables and our brave first responders we count on in an emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Treasury\u2019s Board of Finance and Revenue (BF&R) mailed applications to farmers and first responder agencies in June. Applications must be filed by Sept. 30, 2025. If an entity chooses to file a paper application, it must be postmarked by Sept. 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

Claimants can file by emailing completed forms and required documents to\u00a0BFRLiquidFuels@patreasury.gov<\/a>\u00a0or by uploading documents through Treasury\u2019s website,\u00a0patreasury.gov\/bfr<\/a>. Detailed instructions for uploading documents can be found\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To be accurately processed, all applicants must also submit actual receipts that include the date, location, fuel type, price per gallon and total amount paid. Vendor payments must be presented on their letterhead and verify that all Pennsylvania liquid fuels taxes have been paid. Receipts remain in BF&R\u2019s files and are not returned to applicants.<\/p>\n

Fuels eligible for refund include unleaded gasoline and on-road, clear diesel. Fuels must be used for machinery and vehicle operations, and for farmers must have been purchased within a 25-mile radius of an entity\u2019s operations. Applications are not accepted for dyed diesel.<\/p>\n

Other groups who may be eligible for Liquid Tax Fuels reimbursement include political subdivisions, non-public schools and non-profit schools. The deadline for these groups to apply is March 31. Applications for these groups will be mailed the last week of December.<\/p>\n

Last fiscal year, BF&R disbursed $28 million in Liquid Fuels Tax reimbursements.<\/p>\n

BF&R is an independent administrative tax tribunal, administered by the State Treasurer. Its Board consists of three members \u2013 two are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate; the third is the State Treasurer or her designee and serves as Chair.<\/p>\n
