McClure announced a historic achievement: for the eighth consecutive year, the County has passed a budget with no property tax increase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the beginning, I promised to end the over-taxation of the people of Northampton County,\u201d said County Executive Lamont G. McClure. \u201cEight straight years without a tax increase, and a tax cut that returned $25 million to our residents, shows that we kept that promise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Records indicate that since at least 1961, Northampton County has never experienced an eight-year period without a tax increase. This era of fiscal responsibility also includes a previous tax cut, which returned $25 million to hardworking Northampton County residents.<\/p>\n<p>County Executive McClure commended his Cabinet, County Council and County employees for their partnership in delivering responsible, stable budgets year after year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis historic eighth consecutive budget without a tax increase proves that fiscal discipline and strong public service can go hand in hand,\u201d McClure added. \u201cOur residents deserve a government that protects both their wallets and the services they rely on.
