Lehigh Valley, PA \u2014 Omy Maldonado announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 14th Senatorial District. The 14th Senatorial District represents Lehigh and Northampton Counties.<\/p>\n
As a native Lehigh Valley resident, Omy Maldonado is a husband,
\nfather, volunteer youth coach and a Marine Corps veteran who honorably served eight years with two deployments overseas. Maldonado attended the University of South Carolina Beaufort, receiving his undergraduate degree in 2017, and in 2021 graduated from Saint Joseph\u2019s University with an MBA.<\/p>\n
After his service, Maldonado experienced the challenges many working families face\u2014relying briefly on unemployment benefits and state Medicaid as he worked to get back on his feet. He volunteers as a youth coach in football, basketball and baseball.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m running for the State Senate because families like mine are
\nworking hard, doing everything right, and still being left
\nbehind\u2014struggling just to make ends meet,\u201d said Maldonado.<\/p>\n
Maldonado said his campaign will focus on affordability, responsible
\ngovernment, and accountability in Harrisburg. He emphasized the
\nimportance of policies that allow families to build stable lives
\nwithout being taxed out of their livelihoods.<\/p>\n
