More than $225,000 in unclaimed property returned to vendors and Farm Show visitors<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Harrisburg, PA\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced today that\u00a0more than $225,000 in unclaimed property\u00a0was returned to Pennsylvanians during the\u00a02026 Pennsylvania Farm Show, putting money directly back into the hands of families, farmers, small businesses, and visitors from across the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Farm Show gave us a unique chance to meet so many incredible farmers and families who help put food on the table for people across the state \u2013 and the country,\u201d Treasurer Garrity said. \u201cWhile folks were enjoying the very best of Pennsylvania agriculture, our team was hard at work helping them find money they didn\u2019t realize was missing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of the property returned at the Farm Show, $12,110 was returned to the Pennsylvania Livestock Association.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis money will be put to good use to enhance our youth programs and encourage more young Pennsylvanians to learn the ins and outs of the livestock industry and support our future agriculture leaders,\u201d said Mike Firestine, PLA Director and Chairman of the Youth Committee. \u201cThe PA Livestock Association is grateful for Treasurer Garrity and her team for their efforts to return this money to our organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Treasury staff assisted Farm Show attendees and vendors throughout the event, helping them search for unclaimed property such as uncashed checks, dormant bank accounts, insurance proceeds, and other forgotten financial assets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt didn\u2019t matter if someone was selling food, showing livestock, or visiting with family, every claim returned meant real dollars going back to Pennsylvanians,\u201d Garrity said.<\/p>\n

Treasury currently safeguards\u00a0more than $5 billion in unclaimed property, which is owed to more than one in ten Pennsylvanians. The\u00a0average claim is over $1,000.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Garrity encourages all Pennsylvanians to check for unclaimed property at\u00a0patreasury.gov\/unclaimed-property<\/a>.<\/p>\n
