{"id":147502,"date":"2026-02-06T22:39:14","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T03:39:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=147502"},"modified":"2026-02-06T22:39:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T03:39:14","slug":"weekend-shelter-information-for-expected-extreme-cold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=147502","title":{"rendered":"Weekend shelter information for expected extreme cold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Allentown, PA \u2013 February 6, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Lehigh County Executive Josh Siegel gathered local providers this week to help develop an action plan for helping the unsheltered during this weekend\u2019s extreme cold weather.\u00a0 \u201cLocal government has a moral duty to make sure that residents have access to the basic needs of survival.\u00a0 For too long the unsheltered community has been an afterthought, and I refuse to allow that complacency and inaction to continue.\u00a0 I am committed to making sure that every resident of Lehigh County has safe options to sleep and stay warm. I invite my fellow elected officials to join me in addressing the needs of the unsheltered community with the urgency it demands,\u201d Siegel stated.<\/p>\n<p>Executive Siegel has been in communication with providers to coordinate efforts and reduce the risks posed by severe weather. These efforts are focused on ensuring that residents who are inadequately sheltered can limit their exposure to the elements and remain safe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank our community partners for working so diligently to keep our unhoused community safe,\u201d said Executive Siegel. \u201cI have directed my administration to continue to address these needs that have been unmet for so long. We will continue working on comprehensive solutions to ensure all of our residents have dignity, safety, and shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>RIPPLE\u00a0COMMUNITY, INC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ripple Community Inc.<br \/>\n1335 W. Linden Street, Allentown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To minimize the gaps in service, Ripple Community Inc. will remain open Saturday, February 7, until 5:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAYBREAK DAY SHELTER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Daybreak Drop-in Day Shelter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>457 W Allen St, Allentown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saturday: Open from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The Lehigh Conference of churches<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>St. Luke\u2019s Lutheran Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>417 N. 7th Street, Allentown<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today: Open from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM<\/p>\n<p>Saturday: Open from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM<\/p>\n<p>Breakfast will be served<\/p>\n<p>To-go lunch will be available<\/p>\n<p><strong>Neighborhood House at Christ Lutheran Church<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1245 W.
