READING, PA<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0March 2, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Albright College will host<\/strong>\u00a0competing students from\u00a0ten Berks County high schools\u00a0<\/strong>for the\u00a02025-26 Berks County Interscholastic Mathematics Championship<\/strong>\u00a0on Wednesday, March 4.<\/p>\n

Held for over 30 years, the annual event is\u00a0sponsored by the Higher Education Council of Berks County<\/strong>, which is comprised of the\u00a0county\u2019s five institutions of higher learning<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Albright College, Alvernia University, Kutztown University, Penn State Berks and Reading Area Community College.<\/p>\n

While not open to spectators,\u00a0all Berks County high schools<\/strong>\u00a0are invited to the competition, which rotates its location among the council members. This year, math competitors will come from\u00a0Conrad Weiser High School, Daniel Boone High School, Fleetwood High School, Governor Mifflin High School, Kutztown Area High School, Muhlenberg High School, Oley Valley High School, Schuylkill Valley High School, Wilson High School\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Wyomissing High School.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition tests students in\u00a0both team and individual formats<\/strong>. Three-person teams work through a\u00a0written exam covering algebra, trigonometry and other advanced math concepts<\/strong>, while individual competitors tackle a separate exam focused on challenging mathematical applications.\u00a0Winners receive prizes<\/strong>, individual recognition and the competition’s traveling trophy, engraved with the names of every champion since 1991, which they will hold until next year’s event.<\/p>\n

The championship has\u00a0deep roots in Berks County<\/strong>, originally launched in 1960 by the Berks County Math Teachers Association. After a pause, it was revived in 1991 with a clear mission: to encourage students to\u00a0pursue careers in math and science<\/strong>, foster academic excellence, build school spirit, and recognize mathematically talented young people.<\/p>\n

Albright is thrilled to be the host for the March 4 event, which is only the second competition since a three-year hiatus (from 2020 through 2023) due to the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n
