United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, in partnership with ReImagine Carbon and Community Development of the Poconos<\/a>, presented\u00a0More Front Doors for Carbon County<\/em><\/a>, a community-wide convening focused on addressing housing challenges and opportunities across the region. The event brought together community leaders, businesses, elected officials, and nonprofit organizations to explore collaborative, solution-driven approaches to reimagining housing in Carbon County, with particular attention to the growing need for senior housing.<\/p>\n

The event was held Wednesday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orioles Community Center in Lehighton. The morning included a the formal program which led into a facilitated discussion designed to foster meaningful dialogue and collective action.<\/p>\n

Featured speakers included Samar Jha, Director of Government Affairs with AARP, who leads local and state housing advocacy efforts across AARP\u2019s 53 state offices and represents the organization before governing bodies on housing and livability policies. Jha brought a national perspective on housing strategies that support aging populations and strengthen community livability for residents of all ages and provided unique insights on how Pennsylvania is faring in the effort to develop better regulatory practices such as ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) and other best practices for aging in place.<\/p>\n

The speakers provided insights into state and national housing trends while helping Carbon County stakeholders envision practical, locally informed solutions for the future.<\/p>\n
