NCC PTK Chapters Win at Catalyst Convention<\/strong><\/p>\n Chapters took home awards at the international and regional level<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n BETHLEHEM, PA<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0The Northampton Community College (NCC) chapters of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society took home several awards at this year\u2019s\u00a0PTK Catalyst Convention<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Baltimore, Maryland held March 26-28 at the Baltimore Convention Center.<\/p>\n On the international level, the Bethlehem campus Tau Gamma chapter took home the\u00a02026 Distinguished Chapter Officer Team Award.\u00a0<\/strong>The student officer team is comprised of\u00a0Crystal Armstrong<\/strong>,\u00a0Judy Htun<\/strong>,\u00a0Payton Malehorn<\/strong>,\u00a0Ei Thanzin Myo<\/strong>, and\u00a0Ayla Lucia Anna Skubera.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Tau Gamma chapter advisors,\u00a0Nykolai Blichar<\/strong>,\u00a0Mary Pickett<\/strong>, and\u00a0Thomas Mengel\u00a0<\/strong>have been awarded the\u00a02026 Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team Award\u00a0<\/strong>on the international level as well.<\/p>\n Regional Level Awards<\/p>\n Tau Gamma (Bethlehem):<\/em><\/p>\n Five Star Chapter<\/strong><\/p>\n MSR Legends Award<\/strong><\/p>\n Chapter Officer Hall of Honor Inductees: Ei Thanzin Myo & Judy Htun\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Distinguished Chapter Officer Team<\/strong><\/p>\n Distinguished College Project<\/strong><\/p>\n Advisor Paragon Award: Thomas Mengel\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team<\/strong><\/p>\n Beta Beta Chi (Pocono):<\/em><\/p>\n Chapter Officer Hall of Honor Inductee: Robert Knight\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Distinguished Honors in Action Project<\/strong><\/p>\n Beta Beta Chi\u2019s winning Honors in Action Project, the\u00a0Give & Gather initiative, was directly developed from the chapter\u2019s research findings related to food insecurity and barriers to access among college students. PTK members,\u00a0Robert Knight<\/strong>,\u00a0Aurelia Hoffman<\/strong>,\u00a0Shanique Bourn<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Joana O\u2019Connor,<\/strong>\u00a0promoted the Pocono campus C.A.R.E. pantry and provided needed services to the college community. By providing free meals, especially around the Thanksgiving holiday, they aimed to respond to this urgent need with compassion and action. This experience encouraged students to reflect more deeply on food access challenges.<\/p>\n \u201cSeeing how grateful and appreciative everyone was reinforced why this work truly matters; being able to make an impact on students during such a difficult time was both humbling and motivating. This experience reminded our chapter that informed action is not just about meeting immediate needs, but about building human connection, empathy, and lasting commitment to service,\u201d said Robin Watson, Beta Beta Chi chapter advisor.<\/p>\n For Tau Gamma\u2019s winning college project, they put together a mural on the connection bridge between College Center and Penn Hall on Bethlehem campus. The officer team acquired student artists for the mural, and together, they created a shared artistic space filled with inspirational artwork that motivates students and all other members of the campus community.<\/p>\n \u201cIt brightened an otherwise dark hallway. The mural took about five months to complete, and there were fifteen named contributors, but it was the product of cross-departmental collaboration that included our NCC President, Dr. David A. Ruth, Associate Provost and Dean of Students, Dr. Eric Rosenthal, facilities, and more!
