The award is given to a support professional who has exhibited creativity, initiative or productivity which is relevant to the learning process and the growth of children.<\/p>\n Santiago was nominated for the award because of her dedication to the Union Terrace students and their families. She has worked in the school\u2019s health room for 11 years, while also working at a local assisted living facility and attending college to realize her dream of obtaining her nursing degree. Additionally, \u201cSantiago is bilingual and generously helps by speaking to our Spanish parents when needed,\u201d according to the nomination submission.<\/p>\n PASR\u2019s Educational Committee developed the Lauretta Woodson Award program to showcase the good work being done in the state\u2019s public schools. Awardees are presented with a medallion, certificate and PASR pin.<\/p>\n About Allentown School District<\/strong><\/p>\n ASD serves more than 16,000 students in a network of 22 early childhood, elementary, middle and high schools located throughout the City of Allentown, PA. Allentown, PA (May 12, 2016)<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0On May 16, Union Terrace Elementary School\u2019s Health Room Assistant, Luz Santiago, will receive the Lauretta Woodson Award from the Lehigh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Lehigh Chapter (PASR). Santiago will be honored at PASR\u2019s annual Luncheon beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Iron Lakes Country Club in Allentown.<\/p>\n
