{"id":15292,"date":"2016-05-13T12:06:50","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T16:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=15292"},"modified":"2016-05-13T12:06:50","modified_gmt":"2016-05-13T16:06:50","slug":"iesi-bethlehem-landfill-offers-10000-in-scholarship-opportunities-to-graduating-hs-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=15292","title":{"rendered":"IESI Bethlehem Landfill offers $10,000  in scholarship opportunities to graduating HS students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>IESI Bethlehem Landfill offers $10,000<br \/>\nin scholarship opportunities to graduating HS students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BETHLEHEM, Pa.<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_967841273\"><span class=\"aQJ\"> (May 13, 20<\/span><\/span>16) <\/strong>\u2013 The deadline is quickly approaching for graduating high school seniors to apply for one of 10 college scholarships \u2014 each valued at $1,000 \u2014 that are being offered by IESI Bethlehem Landfill.<\/p>\n<p>The annual scholarship opportunity is open to graduating seniors from these five local high schools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bethlehem Catholic<\/li>\n<li>Freedom<\/li>\n<li>Liberty<\/li>\n<li>Saucon Valley<\/li>\n<li>Southern Lehigh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility and Deadline to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nInterested students must be accepted at a post-secondary school and have plans to pursue a degree in environmental science or engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to apply is <strong>Friday,<\/strong> <strong>May 20<\/strong>. Interested students can download the application via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bethlehemlandfill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">www.bethlehemlandfill.com<\/span><\/a> or obtain a copy via their school guidance counselor office. Completed applications can be submitted to Dee Raisner at IESI Bethlehem Landfill via email (<a target=\"_blank\">dee.raisner@progressivewaste.<wbr \/>com<\/a>) or fax <a href=\"tel:%28610-317-8799\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\">(610-317-8799<\/span><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Impact on Young Students\u2019 Futures<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cWe really look forward to our annual scholarship initiative each year because we get to have an impact in these students\u2019 lives,\u201d said Allen Schleyer, IESI Bethlehem Landfill District Manager. \u201cThese will be our future leaders in the environmental science and engineering fields.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the 16<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> consecutive year IESI Bethlehem Landfill has supported local students through its scholarship initiative.
