(Fuling USA), Pennsylvania\u2019s only Chinese manufacturer with U.S. operations in the Commonwealth, celebrated its first year of production at its facility in the Lehigh Valley region with a Media Day event. The company offered a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, which produces straws for four of the top five fast food restaurants in the world.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted to invite the media, local officials, and business leaders to see our facility, which in just one year has produced over 400 million plastic drinking straws, long enough to encircle the equator of the Earth 2.3 times if being connected end to end,\u201d said Gilbert Lee, Fuling USA\u2019s CFO. \u201cWe are proud to be in Pennsylvania and to employ people from around the region at our factory.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2015 Fuling Global, Inc. (Fuling Global) opened its first manufacturing facility, Fuling USA, in Allentown, becoming the first Chinese manufacturer to migrate production operations to Pennsylvania. Its Allentown facility features 12 straw production lines with plans to add additional lines in the next year to manufacture plastic takeout containers and cups.<\/p>\n The remainder of the Fuling Global\u2019s diverse product line is manufactured at its three facilities in China and shipped to customers across the United States, Europe and other areas. In addition to Allentown production facility, Fuling Global also has North American distribution facilities located in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Los Angeles, California, Toronto, Ontario and Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada.<\/p>\n The Allentown plant\u2019s current staff of 40 workers is expected to double within the next year as more production lines are added to make plastic take-out food containers and plastic cups, along with additional financial investment in the facility\u2019s expansion.<\/p>\n Fuling Global was awarded the International Project of the Year award for 2015 by Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, and raised more than $20 million during its initial public offering on Nasdaq in November 2015 (symbol: FORK).<\/p>\n Fuling Global is an environmentally conscious company that holds more than 30 patents focused on developing environmentally friendly materials and technology.
