Producer Beth Thuna started an amazing production company with her sister Doreen and her mother Sonia J. Thuna. Beth Thuna spoke with Janel Spiegel for an exclusive about 313Films and more.<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

How is everything going so far with \u201cThe Horde?\u201d<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: I think things are great. We came out really strong with all of our PR. Now were just trying to keep the news going as we get more platforms available.<\/div>\n

Have you discovered any new projects yet that you would like to work on with 313Films?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: Well I know that we want to work on an action film. We are just finishing reading one of Paul Logan\u2019s scripts. We are still looking at that but have not made a final decision yet.<\/div>\n

Since you have been doing this for a while now, do you feel it has become easier as a producer for women in this industry?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: The challenges that I am dealing with at the moment are more about this being our first time experience. I feel as we move forward to our next project we will know what to expect so will be better prepared for everything.<\/div>\n

In about ten years, where do you hope to see yourself and 313Films?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: In ten years<\/span><\/span> I hope to see 313 Films as an established production company in the industry. I believe that when you do something you love a passion shows through. If you are going to spend that many hours doing something, why shouldn\u2019t it be something that you love?<\/div>\n

What is it like working with your sister?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: With sister\/sibling relationships there is always a chance of butting heads but you should try to butt heads with respect. Then in the end you are really coming out from a loving place. You communicate better, we have definitely learned to communicate better. We\u2019ve really grown to learn more about each other as sisters and producing partners.<\/div>\n

Do you have a favorite action film right now?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: One of my favorite films recently that I thought the fight sequences were amazing was \u201cJohn Wick\u201d with Keanu Reeves. That is one of my favorite action films. It was so stylized and everything from the music to the way that he presented the character. I happen to love Keanu Reeves so I was so happy that he was in this fantastic movie.<\/div>\n

When you were growing up did you know this is what you wanted to do for a living?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: \u00a0When I was growing up, personally I always wanted to do some unusual things. There was a time when I wanted to be an astronaut and when I was in college trying to figure out what I wanted to do next, I was interested in marine biology. The way that I would approach life is I was very attracted to these unusual creative outlets. I always loved entertainment. My father was thinking about starting a production company when we first moved to California. It sort of was always there and with his blessing and encouragement we created 313Films. You just never know where life is going to take you.<\/div>\n

Does the 313 have any kind of significance?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: Yes so when we were thinking about the name for the production company and we knew it was going to be an all-female run production company. My sister Doreen, my mom who comes in as more of an Executive Producer and myself. I was trying to come up with some exotic name and then I just thought to myself there is three women and thirteen is my father\u2019s lucky number who is part of this too in the beginning of it. I brought it up to my sister and my mother and they loved it. That\u2019s how it happened, simple as that.<\/div>\n

What would you like to say to women who may be afraid to start a project in what some say is a \u201cmale dominated industry?\u201d<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: The tide is changing. Things are changing to be more open to females in the industry. Even films such as a Marvel movie, I believe they hired a female director. This is an incredible step forward. It shouldn’t have to be about male or female, it\u2019s should be about talent and that is what should push the industry. I love the fact that \u201cThe Horde\u201d had a female cinematographer.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
What would you like to say to the audiences\/fans of people who already watched \u201cThe Horde\u201d and who will be watch the future films you produce?<\/strong><\/div>\n
Beth<\/em>: In particular, for \u201cThe Horde,\u201d I want to thank them. For taking a chance on this independent movie and really loving it and enjoying it. As for future audiences I hope that what they will do is come out of the movies that we produced and either say that was really a fun time or wow, that movie really made me think. I want to affect people. I hope that we affect them and entertain them.<\/div>\n
