{"id":16324,"date":"2016-06-08T16:57:08","date_gmt":"2016-06-08T20:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=16324"},"modified":"2016-06-08T16:57:08","modified_gmt":"2016-06-08T20:57:08","slug":"jordan-irving-pools-open-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=16324","title":{"rendered":"JORDAN &#038; IRVING POOLS OPEN SATURDAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The City of Allentown Department of Parks &amp; Recreation will open Jordan and Irving swimming pools for the 2016 season on Saturday, June 11.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all anticipating a tremendous season,\u201d said Director of the Department of Parks &amp; Recreation Lindsay Taylor.\u00a0 \u201cOur pools are a great place to get some exercise, cool off and have a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daily admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children ages 4-to-17 at Jordan and Mack pools.\u00a0 At Irving Pool the cost is $2.00 for anyone age 4 and over.<\/p>\n<p>The pools are open to the public daily from <span data-term=\"goog_438416051\">12 noon until 7pm<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Allentown\u2019s two free spray park locations at Buck Boyle Park and 5<sup>th<\/sup> and Allen Street Park opened for weekends on May 28.\u00a0 They will open daily beginning Saturday, June 11.\u00a0 Hours are also <span data-term=\"goog_438416053\">12 noon to 7pm<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Mack Pool and its brand new filtration system will open on Saturday, June 18.\u00a0 Cedar Beach Pool is currently under reconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>Buying a pool pass for the summer is a great, inexpensive way to spend time with your family!\u00a0 Swim passes are an excellent value.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Season Pass Rates:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Mack &amp; Jordan Pools<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 $50.00 for City of Allentown residents ages 4-to-59.\u00a0 Resident Family Passes can also be purchased for $150.00; which includes up to four persons, of which two may be adults. Additional children may be added to a family season pass for $25.00 each. Active military and resident veterans may purchase a discounted season pass for $25.00.<\/p>\n<p>The non-resident season pass fee is $80.00 for individuals ages 4-to-59.\u00a0 Non-resident seniors age 60+ and non-resident active military and veterans will pay $50.00 for a season pass.\u00a0 Non-resident families can purchase a season pass for $300 which includes up to four persons, of which two may be adults.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Irving Pool-<\/u><\/strong> $20.00 for anyone age 4 and over. These season passes are only valid at Irving Pool.<\/p>\n<p>City of Allentown residents over the age of 59 are eligible for free swimming passes.\u00a0 In order to claim a pass, senior citizens must come to their local pool with proof of residency and a photo ID.<\/p>\n<p>The city offers group rate season passes for local daycares.\u00a0 Contact the Department of Parks &amp; Recreation at <a href=\"tel:610-437-7750\">610-437-7750<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are also urged to mark their calendars for the city\u2019s Water Safety Palooza at Mack Pool <span data-term=\"goog_438416055\">on Saturday<\/span>, <span data-term=\"goog_438416056\">June 18<\/span>.\u00a0 There is free admission to the pool for all participants from <span data-term=\"goog_438416057\">10:00am-2:00pm<\/span>.\u00a0 The event stresses water safety, the proper use of water safety equipment and a rescue demonstration, along with information booths, entertainment, prize raffles and more!<\/p>\n<p>For more information on Allentown\u2019s municipal pools or spray parks, season passes and programs, contact the Department of Parks &amp; Recreation at <a href=\"tel:610-437-7750\">610-437-7750<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Consult the city\u2019s <em>Adventure Allentown<\/em> guide or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allentownpa.gov\/parks\"> www.allentownpa.gov\/parks<\/a>\u00a0 for information on programs and special events at city pools throughout the summer, including Teen Pool Parties and Dip-n-Dance\u2122 programs put together by D.H.
