Photographs by Diane Fleischman<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Founding members Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry formed the band in 2015 with the mission of paying tribute to the rock legends, members of an exclusive club back in the early 70\u2019s called The Hollywood Vampires.\u00a0 As the story goes, the only way into this club was to out drink the other members.\u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019re all gone now\u201d, Cooper told the crowd, \u201cI\u2019m the only one left.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Later that year came the studio release of their self-titled album of cover songs with two original tunes.\u00a0 The band spared no expense as they included contributing artists paying their homage on these tracks with the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, David Grohl, Perry Farrell, Robbie Krieger, Joe Walsh, Slash, Kip Winger, Zak Starkey, and several more.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As the concert began on the big screen, we were introduced to the members of the original Hollywood Vampires, then the band took the stage, and opened with \u201cRaise The Dead\u201d, appropriate to get the party started, followed by \u201cI\u2019ve Got a Line on You\u201d (Spirit), and \u201cManic Depression\u201d (Jimi Hendrix).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Alice Cooper, or Count Cooper as he appeared, took center stage, donned in traditional vampire attire of an intricate designed waist length black jacket, a white shirt with a frilly collar and sleeves, tight black trousers, blacked out eyes, and a visible set of vampire bite marks placed on the right side of his neck.\u00a0\u00a0 This was a clear distinction this was not the typical shock rock Alice Cooper show.\u00a0 At 68, he commands the stage, his vocals remain incredibly strong, which says a lot considering he\u2019s been on tour himself sandwiched in between the Vampire shows.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to play a little blues\u2026Boston style\u201d, Joe Perry smoothly stated as he introduced \u201cStop Messin\u2019 Around\u201d (Fleetwood Mac), and sang lead vocals.\u00a0 \u00a0The audience roared as Cooper added the harmonica solo, and Perry, with his famous single white streak in his hair, which peaked out slightly under his oversized hat. \u00a0He dressed in classic style, with a long flowing purple jacket. \u00a0He flung his guitar over his head and played on.\u00a0 Perry, a strong anchor to this band, remains as one of the most expressive guitarists of our time.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cooper began to tell the story of the next song.\u00a0 \u201cJohnny (Depp) told me about his step father.\u00a0 He was a bit of a criminal.\u00a0 They would sit around and he would toast, \u2018As Good As You Are, As Bad As I Am\u2019\u201d, their single from the album. This song also premiered on this year\u2019s Grammy awards show.\u00a0 The song was composed by Depp along with fellow Vampires, Tommy Hendriksen and Bruce Witkin, and definitely pumps a fresh, fast paced, almost thrashing heavy rock sound added into the fold. \u00a0For those love struck devotees who expected Depp to show his international A-listed actor stature, that didn\u2019t happen. Depp was downright friendly, he smiled often, he bopped, swayed, strutted, and threw in his own swagger as he covered both sides of the stage.\u00a0 He played with great intensity, and also moments of ease and confidence.\u00a0 With his guitar strapped around his back, this is where we witnessed Depp\u2019s finest work.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Also included in the set were two songs celebrated from Marc Bolan,\u00a0 \u201c20<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Century Boy\u201d, and \u201cBang a Gong (Get it On)\u201d, \u201cCold Turkey\u201d (Plastic Ono Band),\u00a0 \u201cWhole Lotta Love\u201d (Led Zeppelin), \u201cRebel Rebel\u201d and \u201cSuffragette City\u201d (David Bowie), \u201c5 to 1\u201d and \u201cBreak on Through\u201d (The Doors).<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the performance of \u201cMy Generation\u201d (The Who), Perry played in true Pete Townsend style as he smashed his guitar at the end of the song.\u00a0 He added one solid kick to the splintered remains before he was handed a new guitar.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The set closed with an Alice Cooper anthem, \u201cI\u2019m 18\u201d, in which, the crowd screamed wildly.\u00a0 For a moment they caught their breath as \u201cSweet Emotion\u201d (Aerosmith) began with Cooper shaking several maracas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The encore kicked off with \u201cTrain Kept a Rollin\u2019\u201d (Tiny Bradshaw), followed by the crowd favorite of the night, \u201cSchools Out\u201d (Alice Cooper), and created a snippet as \u201cAnother Brick in the Wall, part 2,\u00a0 (Pink Floyd) was added.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cDoes anyone want more?\u201d\u00a0 Cooper questioned the audience.\u00a0 Closing the evening was \u201cAce of Spades\u201d, (Motorhead), as Matt Sorum (The Cult, Guns &amp; Roses) sang lead vocals from his drum kit.\u00a0 There aren\u2019t many drummers who can pull off singing and drumming simultaneously, and with a few smiles here and there, Sorum\u2019s performance was flawless.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;
