Rap, radio and 80\u2019s MTV were alive in the Lehigh Valley Saturday night, August 6th when hip hop group Run-D.M.C. took the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest <\/a>in Bethlehem, PA.<\/p>\n

Joseph \u201cRev. Run\u201d Simmons and Darryl \u201cD.M.C.\u201d McDaniels from Hollis, Queens, New York, performed a 13-song set lasting 55 minutes.\u00a0 They only perform once a year but you would never know it.\u00a0 They opened the show wearing their trademark black fedoras and had a tougher sound with a lot more edge while performing \u201cIt\u2019s Tricky\u201d, \u201cHere We Go\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s Like That\u201d.<\/p>\n

The sons of deceased third member Jam Master Jay, Jayson and TJ Mizell were featured on the turntables in a tribute to Jay who was murdered outside his recording studio in 2002. \u00a0The show closed with their huge hits \u201cMy Adidas\u201d and \u201cWalk This Way\u201d.<\/p>\n

Run-D.M.C. is the first group in the rap genre to have a gold album and be nominated for a Grammy Award and they are one of the most influential acts in the history of hip hop culture.\u00a0 Rapper Eminem inducted them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2009 and they were recently awarded the first rap Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n
