Allentown, PA (August 11, 2016):<\/strong> \u00a0Some of Allentown Police Department\u2019s finest will spend the next two weeks mentoring Allentown School District middle school students through APD\u2019s Youth Police Academy. Approximately 25 students will participate in this indoor\/outdoor program where a variety of demonstrations and activities will be performed by multiple area law enforcement agencies from August 15 \u2013 19. The following week, August 22 \u2013 26, ASD students who participated in last year\u2019s Youth Police Academy will return for another week of learning experiences.<\/p>\n

\u201cOffering the Youth Academy for ASD middle school students is one of the many outreach efforts that APD hosts to engage our community\u2019s youth,\u201d explains Chief Keith Morris, Allentown Police Department. \u201cWe look forward to these programs where we have the opportunity to work one-on-one with these students and begin a mentorship that can make a difference in their lives.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Participants in the Academy engage in light physical exercise, engage in a variety of activities, and enjoy breakfast and lunch.<\/p>\n

The Allentown Police Youth Academy will held at Trexler Middle School, 851 North 15th Street, Allentown, from 8:00 a.m. \u2013 3:00 p.m., Monday \u2013 Thursday. On Friday, August 19, students is the first session will participate in a special graduation event at 12 noon in City Council Chambers in Room #118, City Hall, 435 Hamilton Street, Allentown.<\/p>\n
