As parents scramble to figure out all the details of sending their children back to school for the Fall, The Salvation Army is gearing up to be a part of the answer. \u00a0On Friday, August 26<\/span>, from 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.<\/span>, The Allentown Citadel Corps of The Salvation Army will host the 12th<\/sup>Annual Back to School Carnival. \u00a0Major Brenda DeVault, the corps officer, says, \u201cAt the Carnival, underprivileged children are given free school supplies in an effort to promote education.\u201d<\/p>\n The Citadel Corps has been collecting supplies from throughout the community, and will distribute them during the Carnival in its gymnasium, located at 144 North Eighth Street facility. \u00a0\u201cAlthough we have some supplies collected, it is never enough to meet the need,\u201d said DeVault, indicating that the supplies are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. \u00a0Anyone wishing to donate supplies can contact The Salvation Army\u2019s Youth Program Coordinator at (610) 432-0129<\/a>, or by email at Eloitza.King@USE.SalvationArmy.org<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n Supplies still needed are backpacks, calculators, notebooks, pencils, pencil cases, folders, and other appropriate school supplies. \u00a0The Allentown Citadel Corps is also receiving checks toward the purchase of supplies, which can be mailed to The Salvation Army, Post Office Box 147, Allentown, PA \u00a018105-0147.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n About The Salvation Army:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The Salvation Army in the Lehigh Valley <\/strong>is a faith-based, comprehensive human service organization whose programs help individuals, families and whole communities lead healthier, safer and more productive lives.
