We are looking for spooky stories for Halloween. Submit your short story to our writing contest for a chance to win 100 dollars, and to be published online and in our first collection of community stories. Each published contestant will receive a copy of the collection. Copies of the collection of short stories will also be donated to several local libraries around the Lehigh Valley. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to The Literacy Center<\/a>\u00a0of the Lehigh Valley.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n click here for a printable flyer to share<\/a><\/p>\n Click on the submit entry below or email your story to info@thevalleyledger.com \u00a0(Mobile users can find the submit entry link in the menu below)<\/p>\n[showcontestants id=4066 showform=0]\n The subject of your story must be Halloween themed (a ghost story, spooky story, scary story or related to Halloween).<\/span><\/p>\n We are looking for a minimum of 1000 words. <\/span><\/p>\n Submissions must be the intellectual property of the person submitting it. If under 18 must have parent or guardian\u2019s permission to submit.<\/span><\/p>\n Include the Author’s name in the “Title Field” when submitting.<\/p>\n Writers retain full rights to publish their story elsewhere. If published on The Valley Ledger\u2019s website for the contest writers give The Valley Ledger permission to publish the submitted story in a printed collection of the stories from the contest it was submitted to.<\/span><\/p>\n Writers should be from or live in Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon, Berks, Bucks\u00a0or Phillipsburg\u00a0area.<\/p>\n Submissions must be submitted by 10\/09\/2016 by 10pm EST.<\/span><\/p>\n Voting will begin 10\/10\/2016. You can vote daily.<\/span><\/p>\n Voting ends 10\/30\/2016.<\/span><\/p>\n The story that gains the most votes on thevalleyledger.com will be declared the winner.<\/span><\/p>\n All writers published in the contest will receive a published copy of the collection.<\/span><\/p>\n The declared winner with the most votes will receive 100 dollars in gift cards. If there is a tie the prize will be split equally.<\/span><\/p>\n All submissions are subject to review. Submission does not guarantee publication. The Valley Ledger reserves the right to deny publication of stories for any reason. Typical reasons that could lead to rejection include but are not limited to stories that are offensive, include sexual content, and use of obscenities.
