font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">While it has been said from the lips of Mario Puzo from \u2018The Godfather\u2019, \u201cGreat men are not born great, they grew great\u201d, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmayall.com\/\">John Mayall<\/a>, known as The Godfather of British Blues, owns the title.\u00a0 Performing for a full house at the Musikfest Caf\u00e9 Tuesday night, Mayall set the tone as he opened with \u201cNothing But Love\u201d on keyboards.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">As Mayall approaches his 83<\/span><sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria; font-size: small;\">rd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\"> birthday, he is limber with his instruments as he smoothly shifted to harmonica in \u201cDemons of Love\u201d, and at one point, amazed the audience as he played keyboards and harmonica at the same time.\u00a0 Mayall played guitar on \u201cWalking on Sunset\u201d and filled the room with fluid rhythms and guitar riffs that wandered, dappled, and sung the blues deep within his soul.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">It would be an impossible feat to list all of Mayall\u2019s accomplishments in one review, let alone one paragraph.\u00a0 Although this British born jazz and blues musician gained much recognition in his early 30\u2019s, the British Invasion of the 60\u2019s immensely launched his career.\u00a0 Mayall has worked with legendary artists such as BB King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Coco Montoya, and Etta James.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Back on stage, a few surprises were in store as Mayall performed several cover songs such as, \u201cOh Pretty Woman\u201d, \u201cThe Sum of Something\u201d, and \u201cBig Town Playboy.\u201d\u00a0 Other Mayall compositions included, \u201cGimme One More Day\u201d, \u201cHelp Me Baby\u201d, \u201cChicago Line\u201d and \u201cRoom to Breathe.\u00a0 Mayall is joined by bassist, Greg Rzab, and drummer, Jay Davenport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class='adkingprobanner sidebar banner3023'><a href='http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/' target=\"_blank\" data-id='3023' data-ga='{\"campaign\":\"\",\"banner\":\"\",\"implemented\":\"universal\",\"imp_action\":\"Impression\",\"click_action\":\"Click\"}'><img src='https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inpostblank.jpg' alt='' \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class='adkingprobanner sidebar banner7036'><a href='http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com' target=\"_blank\" data-id='7036' data-ga='{\"campaign\":\"\",\"banner\":\"\",\"implemented\":\"universal\",\"imp_action\":\"Impression\",\"click_action\":\"Click\"}'><img src='https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/inpostblank.jpg' alt='' \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&hellip;
