{"id":21731,"date":"2016-09-28T22:48:10","date_gmt":"2016-09-29T02:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=21731"},"modified":"2016-09-28T22:49:11","modified_gmt":"2016-09-29T02:49:11","slug":"httpwww-thevalleyledger-comp1904-422","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=21731","title":{"rendered":"Voters Deserve to Hear from the Candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Armstrong: Voters Deserve to Hear from the Candidates, Mako\u2019s Debate Dodges Disrespectful to Voters<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Phillips Armstrong, the President of the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners and candidate for State Representative in the PA 183rd district, has made himself available to debate his opponent, Mr. Mako, in three public forums since the primary.<\/p>\n<p>These venues include a public forum organized by the Chamber of Commerce in Whitehall scheduled for October 5th and cancelled by Mako. Mr. Mako also declined the opportunity to attend a candidate forum arranged by PBS 39 the week of September 13th and has so far refused to reschedule the forum which is open to all Lehigh Valley candidates for the state legislature. Mr. Mako has yet to respond to the Northampton and Lehigh County League of Women Voters invitation (attached).<\/p>\n<p>Armstrong has reached out to the Northampton County League of Women Voters President and made his availability clear for anytime between now and November 8th. \u201cThe public deserves the chance to make an educated decision about who will best represent them in Harrisburg for the next two years.
