The concert was originally scheduled for May 22<\/span> as part of the city\u2019s more than 50 free event Summer Concert Series.\u00a0 It had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.<\/p>\n The Salvation Army PenDel Brass & Singers Band consists of musicians from around the Pennsylvania and Delaware region who are travelling to Allentown to play with the City of Allentown Pioneer Band.<\/p>\n In 2015, the Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation partnered with The Salvation Army to celebrate the 150th<\/sup> Anniversary of \u201cDoing the Most Good\u201d through a free outdoor concert in West Park.<\/p>\n The Salvation Army has been supporting the Lehigh Valley community since 1890, providing safety net services such as emergency food and financial assistance, case management, clothing distribution, after-school tutoring and enrichment, summer day camp, week-long summer camp at Camp Ladore in the Pocono Mountains, music instruction, spiritual counseling, adult education, holiday food and toys, shelter, soup kitchen meals, senior citizen programs, winter coat distribution, and recreational activities.<\/p>\n \u201cThe city is honored to be working alongside such a vital organization like The Salvation Army,\u201d said Department of Parks and Recreation Director Lindsay Taylor.\u00a0 \u201cWe are very excited to include this special concert showcasing not only terrific musical performances, but celebrating the success of a well-established organization that provides so many services and programs here in Allentown.\u201d<\/p>\n For more information on this event, please contact the Department of Parks & Recreation at 610-437-7750<\/u><\/a> or visit us at www.facebook.com\/<\/u>AllentownParkandRec<\/a>.<\/p>\n To learn more about The Salvation Army, to volunteer with the organization or to donate, visit www.LehighValley.<\/u>SalvationArmyPa.org<\/a>, call Deidre Govan at 610-432-0128<\/a> or e-mail her deidre.govan@use.salvationarmy.org.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
