{"id":22758,"date":"2016-10-19T15:28:28","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T19:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=22758"},"modified":"2016-10-19T15:28:28","modified_gmt":"2016-10-19T19:28:28","slug":"october-marks-8000-meals-delivered-st-lukes-hospice-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=22758","title":{"rendered":"October Marks 8,000 Meals Delivered to St. Luke&#8217;s Hospice Families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Top Cut Steak House to Join Judith Adele Agentis Charitable Foundation for Hospice Meal Donations\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>BETHLEHEM, PA (IMMEDIATE RELEASE)<\/strong> &#8212; Top Cut Steak House, one of the newest and swankiest fine restaurants in the Lehigh Valley, will be joining its sister resturants &#8211; Blue Grillhouse, Melt Grill, and Torre Mexican Restaurant in helping others in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Top Cut, which opened in August above Melt Grill at the Promenade Shoppes, Center Valley, is one of five restaurants in the Paxos Group portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Top Cut chefs will be donating a delicious lunch for 30 people at St. Luke&#8217;s Hospice, <span data-term=\"goog_796025477\">Thursday, October 20<\/span>, at <span data-term=\"goog_796025478\">12 noon<\/span>, according to Tony Burgio, general manager.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;For those spending the last precious days, hours, moments with their loved ones, food is often the last thing on their minds,&#8221; says <\/strong>Bob Agentis, founder of the Judith Adele Agentis Charitable Foundation (JAACF), who survived solely on crackers for nearly a week as he held vigil for his beloved wife, Judith, while she was in hospice.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_22759\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22759\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-22759 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Top-Cut-George-Paxos-right-jpg-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Top-Cut-George-Paxos-right-jpg-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Top-Cut-George-Paxos-right-jpg.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-22759\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caption: Top Cut owner George Paxos, right, with Bob Agentis, founder of JAACF \u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Following her passing in January 2013, Agentis founded the Judith Adele Agentis Charitable Foundation (JAACF) and has since rallied a growing list of the most notable Lehigh Valley restaurants to fill this often little recognized yet very big need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cFamilies don&#8217;t leave the hospice center, and it helps them feel better to be able to come over and have a nice meal and talk to others while they are here.\u201d says Judy Scott, patient care manager at St. Luke\u2019s Hospice House.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Every\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_796025479\">Thursday<\/span>, Agentis delivers, with quiet honor, a buffet for 30 to 50 people.<\/p>\n<p>This October marks the 8,000th meal donated through JAACF to St. Luke\u2019s VNA Hospice, Bethlehem<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThe list of donor partners has grown to 62 area restaurants, and these are some of the finest businesses in the Lehigh Valley,\u201d observes Agentis.\u00a0 He adds, \u201cAfter a business donates for the first time, they often ask, when our business can donate again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other loyal donor restaurants for JAACF include: The Apollo Grill, Corked Steak and Wine Bar, Edge, The Mint Gastropub, The Hamilton Kitchen and Bar, Tapas on Main, Panera Bread, and Yianni\u2019s Taverna. \u00a0\u00a0The families visiting loved ones at hospice are more than grateful for the delicious meal, and have expressed their appreciation in donations, thank-you cards and well wishes weeks later on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Agentis and the JAACF earned the Heart of Hospice Award from the Pennsylvania Hospice Network, 2014, and the Shining Star Award from St. Luke\u2019s Health Network, 2014. The nonprofit also recently earned a grant from Just Born, Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Dyanne Holt, a co-owner of Apollo Grill, says, \u201cThis is a notable charitable foundation with an excellent mission. The foundation recognizes the need that family members here at hospice need to nourish the whole body and soul.
