This year\u2019s winner is Hope Against Heroin, a nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce the number of young lives lost to heroin overdoses by providing timely access to life-saving treatment, increasing awareness and providing education. The organization provides support for individuals and families that are affected so they may overcome the barriers experienced on the journey to long-term recovery. Hope Against Heroin was founded by Kim and Kevin Hogan after personally being affected by heroin addiction. Their son, Jimmy Duffy, has become the face of the organization showing others there is hope for recovery from opiate addiction.<\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u201cWe are thrilled to have been selected as the winner of Univest\u2019s Caring for Community Giveaway. Heroin use has become a real epidemic in the local suburban area,\u201d said Kim Hogan, president and founder of Hope Against Heroin. \u201cThis $5,140 donation will allow us to help those struggling by providing options for treatment and support.\u201d<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><i><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Hope Against Heroin was selected as the recipient of Univest\u2019s $5,140 Caring for Community Giveaway. Hope Against Heroin was randomly selected from more than 6,400 entries representing more than 100 local nonprofit organizations. Previous winners of the Caring for Community Giveaway were St. Isidore School, Bucks County SPCA, Vets for Vets and The Granny Project.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">The contest launched Monday, December 1, 2016 and entries were accepted through December 31, 2016. To be eligible to win the $5,140, the nonprofit group had to be a <\/span><\/b><b><span lang=\"EN\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">registered 501 (c) (3) organization that operates in the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Greater Philadelphia, Lancaster County or Lehigh Valley areas of Pennsylvania.
