he City of Allentown is looking to honor outstanding young persons in the community.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2012, the \u201cCatch a Young Person Doing Something Right\u201d campaign is a way to recognize the numerous young people who contribute to the well-being of Allentown.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have some fantastic young people in Allentown who deserve recognition,\u201d said Mayor Ed Pawlowski.\u00a0 \u201cThis is an opportunity for members of the community to show how much they appreciate them.\u00a0 I am hoping that dozens of people will take a few minutes to nominate the youth of the city who are taking that extra step.\u201d<\/p>\n

Residents are encouraged to submit names of youth they\u2019ve \u201ccaught doing something right\u201d in one of the following three categories:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Volunteerism <\/strong>\u2013 For assisting someone or improving a neighborhood or the community in general<\/p>\n

Scholastic Achievement<\/strong> \u2013 Notable academic improvement and\/or academic excellence<\/p>\n

Going Over and Beyond the Call of Duty<\/strong> \u2013 for doing more than following the rules, such as making a good decision even when peers chose otherwise.\u00a0 For showing leadership skills, critical thinking, problem solving, maturity or conflict resolution.<\/p>\n

Criteria: <\/strong>Youth ages 7-18 years old, group nominations are welcomed; nominees may not be nominated by themselves or a family member; nominees must live in Allentown or go to school in Allentown; scholastic achievement nominations must be for an Allentown school; only one nomination is permitted per person.<\/p>\n

Nominations are due by February 3, 2017<\/span>. Nomination forms can be requested via an email request to ismael.arcelay@allentownpa.gov or by phone 610-437-7743<\/u><\/a>.\u00a0 Completed nominations can be mailed to City of Allentown, c\/o Mayor\u2019s Office, 435 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA\u00a0 18101 or emailed to the email address previously listed.<\/p>\n
