Highlights include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>January 16 \u2013 ASD Schools and Offices CLOSED <\/strong>for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-term=\"goog_1846158900\">January 23<\/span> \u2013 No School for students<\/strong>. It is a Professional Development Day.<strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ASD Parents, Guardians, Families and Community \u2013<\/strong> <strong><span data-term=\"goog_1846158901\">January 21<\/span><\/strong>; <span data-term=\"goog_1846158902\">8:30 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m.<\/span>: <strong>Parent University and Title I Parent Advisory Council Workshops. <\/strong>These FREE workshops are to educate and inform parents on several topics that will support them throughout their child\u2019s academic year. The Annual Title 1 Parent Advisory Council will meet during this event as well. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Free child care is provided for children age 3 to 10. Event will be held at Building 21 Allentown High School, 265 Lehigh Street, Allentown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ASD Public Event \u2013 <span data-term=\"goog_1846158903\">January 21<\/span><\/strong>; <span data-term=\"goog_1846158904\">9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.<\/span>: \u00a0<strong>Public Facilities Assessment Meeting<\/strong> at Trexler Middle School, 851 N. 15th Street. <strong>The public is invited to attend this meeting <\/strong>that will offer an extensive review of the Facilities Assessment Report compiled last year. The report will be followed by School Board discussion on District facilities and prospective plans for growth focusing on school renovations and consideration of new building construction for the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Roosevelt Elementary School \u2013<\/strong> <strong><span data-term=\"goog_1846158905\">January 23<\/span>; <\/strong><span data-term=\"goog_1846158906\">12:00 p.m.<\/span>:<strong> Young Male Empowerment. <\/strong>Join Roosevelt in a conversation about the best practices to develop a positive and successful mentor program for young male students. Roosevelt would like to start this program in the spring and invite men to consider being a mentor or teaching a session for the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Community Event \u2013 <span data-term=\"goog_1846158907\">January 23<\/span>;<\/strong> <span data-term=\"goog_1846158908\">6:00 p.m.<\/span>: &#8211; <span data-term=\"goog_1846158909\">8:00 p.m.<\/span> <strong>Manny Scott Community Event <\/strong>at William Allen High School\u2019s J. Milo Sewards Gymnasium, 106 North 17th Street.\u00a0 An original \u201cFreedom Writer\u201d from the 2007 hit movie of the same name, Manny Scott, will bring his message of healing, hope, perseverance to our community. Scott will present \u201cUnderstanding One Another and Working Together for the Success of Our Children\u201d for all ASD families and the entire community at William Allen High School. <strong>FREE and Open to Public.<\/strong> Entrance to J.
