Photographs by Diane Fleischman<\/b><\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">It was a full house at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/statetheatre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The State Theatre <\/a><\/strong>Saturday night as <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/theorchestra.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Orchestra<\/a><\/strong> made it\u2019s first appearance in Easton.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">While the formal band named has changed, along with the players, unmistakably, it is the classical rock music of Electric Light Orchestra.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">It\u2019s a big year for ELO with their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the spring,<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">which made the songs performed even more alive than ever.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">ELO was formed in England, back in 1970.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Cited as a musical genius, co-founder, Jeff Lynne, had a musical vision of picking up where The Beatles left off, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">with a unique twist of classical arrangements that were added to the songs.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">ELO toured throughout the seventies, and stretched it up to 1986.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">From there, two reincarnations of the band toured the world, and changed the name to The Orchestra.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Two of the original members of ELO are members of The Orchestra, Lou Clark, on Orchestral Keyboards, and Mik Kaminski on his famous blue violin.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Rounding out the band is Lou Clark Jr., on cello, Eric Troyer, keyboard, guitar, and vocals, who has done vocal work with many artists, John Lennon, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, James Taylor, Kiss, and Lou Reed just to name a few.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Parthenon Huxley, guitar and vocals, was a part of ELO Part 2. His records as a solo artist have earned three Album of the Year awards. Gordon Townsend, drummer, is a native of Philadelphia.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">He began working with The Orchestra in 2001.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Glen Burtnik, bass and vocals, spent ten years as frontman for Styx, as well as a role on Broadway where he portrayed Paul McCartney in Beatlemania.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">The concert opened with the pop based hit \u201cEvil Woman\u201d, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">followed by \u201cRock and Roll King\u201d, \u201cSweet Talkin\u2019 Woman\u201d, with the classical violin intro, and the haunting \u201cCan\u2019t Get it Out of My Head\u201d, with Troyer on lead vocals.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">While it has been noted that some artists will sometimes alter their original versions over the years, it simply won\u2019t work with these classics.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">The tempo may have been bumped up a notch, but these songs are inevitably at their best in original form.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">Ultimately, The Orchestra played all the hits the fans came to hear.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u201cHold on Tight\u201d, \u201cStrange Magic\u201d,<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u201cTurn to Stone\u201d, \u201cLivin\u2019 Thing\u201d, which rolled right into \u201cXanadu\u201d, \u201cTelephone Line\u201d, and \u201cMr. Blue Sky\u201d received a standing ovation.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">The set closed with the hard rocking sound of \u201cDo Ya\u201d, as the entire house rose to their feet and clapped along.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">The fans applauded and howled for an encore, and The Orchestra returned to the stage for a high energy performance of \u201cDon\u2019t Bring Me Down\u201d, an extended version, which involved the audience singing along in the chorus.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">As the band left the stage, Burtnik commented that he would love to come back to Easton again.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Cambria;\">For every member in the audience, they certainly agreed, The Orchestra would be most welcomed again at The State Theatre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;
