{"id":2694,"date":"2015-01-16T00:50:07","date_gmt":"2015-01-16T05:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/wordpress\/?p=2694"},"modified":"2015-01-16T00:51:53","modified_gmt":"2015-01-16T05:51:53","slug":"allentown-awarded-section-902-recycling-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=2694","title":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN AWARDED SECTION 902 RECYCLING GRANT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Allentown will receive $250,000 in a Recycling Program Development and Implementation Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP).\u00a0 The funding will be used for a yard waste trommel screener and the purchase of a paper shredding system.<\/p>\n<p>In the yard waste recycling process, wastes, such as branches, trimmings and shrubs, are shredded by the city\u2019s yard waste tub grinder.\u00a0 After the materials are ground, the trommel screener is used to separate the large woodchips (mulch) from the finer materials.\u00a0 With a large 5 cubic yard hopper, the trommel screener is capable of producing up to 150 cubic yards per hour of screened yard waste material.<\/p>\n<p>Both the mulch and finer screened materials are available to Allentown residents.
