{"id":27716,"date":"2017-02-20T16:07:06","date_gmt":"2017-02-20T21:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=27716"},"modified":"2017-02-20T16:07:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-20T21:07:06","slug":"youth-leaders-right-honored","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=27716","title":{"rendered":"YOUTH LEADERS DOING RIGHT HONORED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 36 winners of the City of Allentown\u2019s \u201cCatch a Young Person Doing Something Right\u201d campaign will be honored at a reception on <span data-term=\"goog_1884529393\">Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 5:30pm<\/span> in City Council Chambers.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2012, the \u201cCatch a Young Person Doing Something Right\u201d campaign is a way to recognize the numerous young people who contribute to the well-being of Allentown.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Ed Pawlowski said, \u201cWe are a community that is blessed to be served by many committed and enthusiastic individuals.\u00a0 I am very pleased to see the eagerness of our young people to assist those in need.\u00a0 I am honored to recognize these young people and thank the adults who took the time to bring them to our attention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of the honorees will receive certificates from the mayor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winners are honored according to age groups in the following categories: Volunteerism<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 for assisting someone or improving a neighborhood or the community in general.\u00a0<strong>Going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 for doing more than following the rules, such as making a good decision even when peers chose otherwise.
