{"id":29927,"date":"2017-04-03T19:43:50","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T23:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=29927"},"modified":"2017-04-03T19:43:50","modified_gmt":"2017-04-03T23:43:50","slug":"dieruff-high-schools-community-clean-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=29927","title":{"rendered":"Dieruff High School\u2019s Community Clean-Up Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allentown, PA (April 3, 2017)<\/strong>\u00a0 On Saturday, April 8, from 9:00 a.m. \u2013 2:00 p.m., Dieruff High School will host their first ever <em>Community Clean-Up Day<\/em> at and around the school. More than 150 students from over 15 school clubs and teams will come together to work toward beautifying their school community. The plan is that this will become an annual school-wide event.<\/p>\n<p>The exterior of the entire school campus \u2013 Main Entrances\/Marquee\/Front Parking Lot; Andre Reed Way; Gym Entrance\/Back Parking Lot; Cedar Street, and the school Courtyard and Pond \u2013 will be part of the clean-up efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of Dieruff teachers, advisors and coaches, students will rake leaves, mulch, and pick up litter, in their effort to beautify the school campus. Student groups will be assigned an area of work from 9:00 a.m. \u2013 12:00 noon, then break for lunch. From 12:30 p.m. \u2013 2:00 p.m., all student volunteers will work cleaning-up Dieruff\u2019s Courtyard and Pond. The hope is that after the area is cleared that the Courtyard could be developed into an outdoor classroom area.<\/p>\n<p>The school has collected \u201cloaner tools\u201d like rakes, shovels and wheel barrels and secured donations of gardening supplies to support the project.
