{"id":31134,"date":"2017-04-25T18:33:28","date_gmt":"2017-04-25T22:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=31134"},"modified":"2017-04-25T18:33:28","modified_gmt":"2017-04-25T22:33:28","slug":"provident-bank-foundation-awards-grant-help-meal-subsidies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=31134","title":{"rendered":"Provident Bank Foundation Awards Grant to Help Meal Subsidies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">(BETHLEHEM) \u2013 Meals On Wheels of Northampton County has received a $3,500 grant from the Provident Bank Foundation to benefit the nonprofit organization\u2019s Meal Subsidy Program.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Darlene Funesti, branch manager for the bank\u2019s Madison Farms Shopping Center branch in Bethlehem Township, recently presented Director of Development Tom Harper with the grant award.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Meal Subsidy Program ensures that every home-bound senior and adult with disabilities who needs meals will be served promptly without regard to his\/her ability to pay. (The majority of our clients pay something toward the cost of their meals, based upon a sliding fee scale.). We currently subsidize meals by $1.10 per meal for nearly 4 out of 5 clients who currently fall at or below the poverty line.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As demand for our meals has increased \u2013 we now produce 24 percent more meals than we did just four years ago \u2013 the Meal Subsidy Program helps to ensure <\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">that no client goes hungry or goes on a waiting list.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Provident Bank Foundation has granted more than $22 million to nonprofit organizations and institutions since its inception in 2003, according to the Foundation\u2019s Web site.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"background: #2a83c7; margin: 0px; color: white; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; font-family: 'Cambria',serif; font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meals On Wheels of Northampton County is a private, nonprofit organization that has supported healthy living through the delivery of nutrition services since 1972. We provide meals and smiles for more than 1,500 seniors and adults with disabilities each year.
