{"id":31845,"date":"2017-05-04T20:36:48","date_gmt":"2017-05-05T00:36:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=31845"},"modified":"2017-05-04T20:36:48","modified_gmt":"2017-05-05T00:36:48","slug":"allentown-school-district-elementary-concert-jump-rope-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=31845","title":{"rendered":"Allentown School District Elementary Concert and Jump Rope Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Allentown School District 4th Annual Elementary<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Instrumental Concert and 2nd Annual Jump Rope Tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Allentown, PA (May 4, 2017)<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Allentown School District\u2019s Fourth Annual Elementary Instrumental Concert and Second Annual Jump Rope Tournament Event will be held on Tuesday, May 9, from 12:00 noon \u2013 1:30 p.m. at the PPL Plaza in downtown Allentown.<\/p>\n<p>The Elementary Instrumental group features a combination of band and orchestra students in grades 3, 4, and 5 from throughout the District\u2019s elementary schools. In conjunction with their concert, the Health and Physical Education Specialists have prepared the top 3 jump rope students from each school to show off their talents and compete in the Second Annual ASD Jump Rope Tournament. This year the newly formed student dance team from Union Terrace will also perform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great way to show off how exceptional the District\u2019s elementary students are by featuring the musical talents and the physical attributes of these children all rolled into one enjoyable event,\u201d explains District Arts Administrator Maryann Gross.<\/p>\n<p>For months, ASD elementary students have been jumping rope in competitive fun as they work together with the American Heart Association\u2019s annual Jump Rope for Heart program. Students will be showing off their jump rope skills of how many jumps they can do in a one minute time period. The list of \u201cjump rope\u201d winners are posted on the elementary school websites. A Smart Tablet will be awarded to the winner of the Jump Rope Tournament on May 9.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held on Tuesday, May 16.<\/p>\n<p>The PPL Plaza is located at 701 Hamilton Street in Allentown.<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>About Allentown School District<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASD serves more than 16,000 students in a network of 22 early childhood, elementary, middle and high schools located throughout the City of Allentown, PA.
