Features a major investment in the Cedarbrook nursing homes.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Lehigh County Executive Tom Muller delivered the county\u2019s latest five-year capital plan, covering the years 2018 to 2022, to the Board of Commissioners late last week.<\/p>\n Muller stated that \u201cthis latest capital plan continues Lehigh County\u2019s commitment to be good stewards of all county assets while carefully managing the taxpayers\u2019 dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n Overall spending is projected at $133.8 million including $68.5 million in financing for the renovation and expansion of the Cedarbrook nursing home operations in South Whitehall. That amount is in line with one of several options under consideration\u2014some considerably more expensive. \u201cWhile a final decision may not be made for 2-3 months, it would be irresponsible to not include a substantial investment in Cedarbrook in this plan\u201d, Muller said.<\/p>\n Excluding the Cedarbrook project, spending is $65.3 million, with $5.7 million coming from the Operating Fund, a decrease of 30% from the previous plan.<\/p>\n Under its County Charter, the Administration is required to issue a 5-year Capital Plan by June 30 and the Board is required to take final action by the end of August.
