{"id":36029,"date":"2017-06-22T17:56:35","date_gmt":"2017-06-22T21:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=36029"},"modified":"2017-06-22T18:00:43","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T22:00:43","slug":"httpwww-thevalleyledger-comp1904-612","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thevalleyledger.com\/?p=36029","title":{"rendered":"Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts presents exploration series for adults:\u00a0 Religion &#038; Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>BETHLEHEM, PA&#8211; (June 27, 2017) &#8212;The Adult Enrichment Workshop Series at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts,<\/strong>\u00a0will present the third round of its popular Venture Academy series\u00a0this summer.\u00a0<strong>Venture Academy III- Religion &amp; Art\u00a0<\/strong>will feature explorations by Norman Girardot, Professor Emeritus of Comparative Religion, Lehigh University, and Emma Ackerman, General Manager of Touchstone Theatre.\u00a0 The Venture Academy is a program of guided explorations for the young of mind and heart.\u00a0 Each round of the program offers a unique theme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Venture Academy III- Religion &amp; Art<\/strong> is a series of multi-media explorations from the Painted Caves of Prehistory to the Digital Caves of the 21st Century will feature a live session on Tuesday evenings and a guided film session on Thursday evenings. A haunting documentary on the great New York abstract expressionist Mark Rothko and the religious ironies of modernist abstract art.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Week 4:\u00a0 Tuesday, July 25\u00a0 (6:15-7:30pm)\u00a0 The End is a New Beginning:\u00a0 The Regenerative Vision of Outsider Art, Norman Girardot &amp; 30-minute film, \u201c I Can Feel Another Planet in My Soul, Strange Visions and Wondrous Art: The Remarkable Story of Howard Finster\u201d.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe rise of alternative visions of art and religion; the new entangled convergence of the sacrificial nature and regenerative power of outsider visionary art with special consideration of the visionary preacher-artist and crucified \u201cStranger from Another World\u201d Howard Finster<br \/>\nFILM:\u00a0 Thursday, July 27 (6-8pm):\u00a0 Andy Goldworthy\u2019s \u201cRivers and Tides: Working with Time\u201d.\u00a0 The glorious entanglement of nature, art, spirit, and the sacred in the work of the amazing Scottish artist, Andy Goldsworthy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (Charter Arts):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, opened in 2003, is an audition-based, tuition-free, public charter school that provides a comprehensive curriculum for high school students, grades 9-12, who have a passion for the arts.
