KOBAYASHI, CASTLE CLAIM RAIN SOAKED KEIRIN CUP WINS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. \u2013 A little wet, a little late, but the 2017 Keirin Cup was completed. Following a severe storm in T-Town that produced a two-hour rain delay on Friday night, the Keirin Cup racing began at 9:30 p.m. with a shortened schedule at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.<\/p>\n

The night featured only UCI events with the completion of the keirin tournament and the men\u2019s international omnium from the afternoon session. There also was a UCI scratch race for the women.<\/p>\n

Jordan Castle of New Zealand won the men\u2019s Keirin Cup while Yuka Kobayashi of Japan won the women\u2019s title. Kobayashi made history as the first Japanese rider to win the Keirin Cup.<\/p>\n

Christina Birch of the U.S. won the women\u2019s UCI scratch race while Ignacio de Jesus Prado Juarez of Mexico claimed the overall victory in the men\u2019s UCI International Omnium.<\/p>\n

The final UCI sanctioned night of racing in T-Town is slated for Saturday night with the UCI Madison Cup XLI. The morning session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the evening session currently slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned to T-Town\u2019s social media for updates in the event the evening session needs to be pushed up due to more severe weather that is scheduled for Saturday night.<\/p>\n

USA Weekend continues in T-Town on Saturday night with $2 Budweisers and Bud Lights, and free admission for veterans, active military members, and active first responders. Also, limited edition T-Town camo shirts and hats will be on sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Operation Homefront.<\/p>\n
