BETHLEHEM, PA (July 27, 2017) <\/strong>– Eileen Seitz, a first year teacher at Lincoln Elementary School this coming school year, recently won the Penn State Spring 2017 Outstanding Student Teaching Award for Elementary Education chosen by the dean of the College of Education and the Penn State Alumni Society Board of Directors.<\/p>\nEach year, the college\u2019s Alumni Society presents awards to graduates who have excelled in their fields and have continued to serve Penn State and the College of Education. Seitz will be among other honored alumni at an award banquet on campus on October 13th.<\/p>\n
\u201cI grew up in the Bethlehem Area School District, attending Spring Garden, East Hills and Freedom,\u201d Seitz said. \u201cSo this community is very close to my heart and I’m extremely excited to be apart of it in such a unique way now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seitz attended Penn State University from 2013 to 2017 and the 2017 – 2018 school year will be her first with the district.<\/p>\n
“We are proud that Eileen is returning to her alma mater and congratulate her for her recognition as Penn State’s outstanding student teacher,\u201d said Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent, Joseph J. Roy.<\/p>\n
Looking forward, Seitz says that she is increasingly interested in working more closely with her students on their goals and aspirations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the classroom, I have been fiercely determined to teach my first grade students how to make a difference in their community and what it means to be a good citizen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
