TREXLERTOWN, Pa. \u2013 The force was with T-Town on Friday night. With rain threatening and falling in all areas surrounding, the Bicycling Racing Capital of the World stayed mostly dry for the first-ever Sprint Wars on Friday night at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, part of the 2017 World Series of Bicycling.<\/p>\n
The new event, Sprint Wars, grouped riders, regardless of category, based on times into different groups to sprint and then ride in a keirin final. Matt Rotherham, Tyler Nothstein, Scott Savory, Josiah McGraw, Zac Olszewski, and Danielle Van Niekerk all won the sprint battles in their respective groups.<\/p>\n
Overall, Rotherham, of Great Britain, won the men\u2019s omnium with 24 points while Anita Stenberg of Norway won the women\u2019s overall omnium with 14 points.<\/p>\n

Riders from this summer\u2019s Air Products classes compete against one another under the bright WSB lights. Additionally, it is the final Dog Day of Summer this season as fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the track. Also, there will be $1 hot dogs all night long at the A-Treat Breakaway Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $6 with children 12 years old and younger being $2.
